Hi, everyone. As you know, my Dad is
Jack Carter, who's running for US Senate in Nevada. This week is a big week for us. Two TV ads just went up in both the Las Vegas and Reno markets. Those two markets combine to cover
97% of the state's voters, and we're expecting a big boost in name recognition for my Dad. See the ads (or read the transcripts) after the jump.
We were going for simple and direct ads that would introduce my Dad to the voters, and that would look different enough from the typical political ads that people would pay attention. My step-brother
John Chuldenko is a director and he shot the ads himself. He wanted Dad to look like a normal human being instead of a well-polished politician, and I think he did a good job.
So, without further ado, here are the ads (you'll have to click through to YouTube - the embedding doesn't work. Or you can just watch them at the Carter Blog). The first one is called "Bio" and the second one is "Costco."
For those of you who can't watch the ads right now (or don't have audio), here are the transcripts, courtesy of the Las Vegas Gleaner:
First ad:
I grew up in a small town, and from the age of six until I joined the Navy, I worked in a peanut warehouse. I later earned degrees in physics and law, and worked in finance and started my own investment company. My father's Jimmy Carter, and growing up, he instilled in me a deep sense of honesty and of responsibility to always do the right thing, regardless of outside pressure. That's why I'm running for the United States Senate. I'll be Nevada's voice to Washington, and not Washington's voice to Nevada. My name's Jack Carter and I approved this message, and I sure would appreciate your vote on November 7th.
Second ad:
The lobbyists have taken too much control over what goes on in our government. Medicare cannot use its size to negotiate lower drug prices. This is like the government has never been to Costco. Because we all know if you go to Costco and get six boxes of cereal, that's going to be a lot cheaper than if you go to a grocery store and buy them one at a time. The government is supposed to be for the people, and not for the corporations. I'm Jack Carter and I approved this message. I'm running for the US Senate from the state of Nevada and I sure would appreciate your vote on November 7th.
Let me know what you think!
And remember, we're in the process of kicking off what should be a wild ride: Greg, a new volunteer, is coordinating ways that the community (that means you) can contribute skills and expertise to the campaign. It's going to be a huge undertaking. Check out his introductory diary here.
Thanks for reading!
Sarah
